Nielson Park

The heritage character of the existing building was retained and clarified in the formal areas of this Nielson Park house. A 70’s rear extension was removed to reveal a heritage listed Cheese tree.

We added contemporary spatial elements such as the double height void between the new and the old, oversized sliding doors and highlight glass louvres to open up to the rear garden, pool and tree. The new extension runs at an angle to the existing plan, following the line of the splayed side boundary and re-orientating the new living spaces around the tree.
