Grounded at the base of a dramatic 25m waterfront cliff face this family home was the result of an adaptive re-use of a derelict 60’s building. We designed the new living level structure to be prefabricated and craned over the cliff into place. The arrival experience is heightened by the new passenger inclinator trip over the cliff’s edge and the cliff-hugging pathway traversing the rock face.
While every bedroom and living space has been designed to engage with the marine activity and natural beauty of Shell Cove, it is the views back to the water-stained rock shelf and hanging endemic garden that really connect the house back to the site.
