‘FAÇADE AS A LIVING SCREEN’

A dynamic rear extension to this Bondi inter-war brick Residential Flat Building.

The opportunity here was to extend the building to the north and down the steeply sloping sandy topography, telescope like, balconies as frames, a 9m high living screen composed of planted vertical elements, splayed walls angle towards ocean views.

The language is light, vertical and transparent within the heavy rhythm of neighbouring masonry building blocks and significant planting.
