Ramsgate Hall

‘Ramsgate Hall’ is a 4 apartment Inter-war era residential flat building in Bondi, located one street back from the beach. Bookended by two contemporary neighbours, it’s a complex site in a conservation area with a north facing street and south easterly views to the beach and horizon from the new penthouse apartment.

Compositionally, a corbelled parapet is added to act as an interface in between the existing façade below and the new apartment above. The vertical white blade elements of the rooftop pavilion are a refined interpretation of the rendered masonry columns of the existing facade.

The cascading native planting over the parapet of the base form articulates the silhouette of the finer white vertical elements of the rooftop apartment.
